Relocating to our area?
Here is what you need to become a member of Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative, Inc. and connect an existing service in your name:
- Completed membership application click here for that form
- Valid photo ID
- Documents in your name for the property you are wanting to transfer or connect (purchase documents, rental or lease agreement, deed, etc.)
- Letter of credit from a previous utility such as electric, water, sewer, or gas
- Deposits are waived for excellent letters of credit or with a satisfactory soft credit check
- If a deposit is needed, it will be calculated on the past usage of the individual property, please contact us for a deposit quote
- The meter number from the property is very helpful to ensure we are connecting the correct location for you
- We charge a $50.00 transfer/connect fee on the first bill
- Connects and transfers are completed on the next business day after receiving all necessary documentation unless the member specifies a different future date
The completed membership application, property documents, letter of credit, and photo ID copies can be brought into either office location, faxed to 505-832-0946 or emailed to info@cnmec.org. Please be sure to include a contact phone number so a member service representative can reach you should they have any questions or need additional information.
Already a member?
If you are an existing member and you are moving or adding another account to your membership, here is what you need:
- Documents in your name for the property you are wanting to transfer or connect (purchase documents, rental or lease agreement, deed, etc.)
- Deposits are waived or charged based solely on your credit history with CNMEC
- If a deposit is needed, it will be calculated on the past usage of the individual property, please contact us for a deposit quote
- The meter number from the property is very helpful to ensure we are connecting the correct location for you
- We charge a $50.00 transfer/connect fee on the first bill
- Connects and transfers are completed on the next business day after receiving all necessary documentation unless the member specifies a different future date
